Our experience is that cancer patients suffering with a swollen arm (secondary lymphoedema) are often depressed. This is as a result of the removal of lymph nodes which has reduced lymphatic drainage to the affected area causing fluid to accumulate in the tissue space resulting in pain and discomfort.
